Turkey striker Tuncay Şanlı, who played for England's Bolton Wanderers last season on loan, has signed a contract with Super League team Bursaspor. Fenerbahçe's former star striker Şanlı returned to Turkey following his long adventure in Europe. He signed a three-year contract with Bursaspor following lengthy negotiations.
Bursaspor spokesman Selçuk Eren on Monday shared in his Twitter feed a photo of club chairman İbrahim Yazıcı and Şanlı shaking hands.
Tuncay, who left Fenerbahçe in 2007, joined England's Middlesbrough team and scored 13 goals in two seasons with them. He later transferred to Stoke City, Wolsfburg and Bolton but failed to deliver as good a performance for the three as he did in his former team Fenerbahçe. In the heyday of his career in Fenerbahçe -- the 2003-2004 season -- he scored 19 goals.
Meanwhile, late on Monday, Fenerbahçe also announced that it has signed a four-year contract with Portugal international Raul Meireles. The Turkish team paid Chelsea 10 million euros for the player.
